Lab 0.3: Rebuild
If you do not have permission to play games that are Rated T (or if zombie games give you nightmares--nobody's judging), you will play Clone-A-Doodle-Doo.
If you do have permission, go to Rebuild 2 and play the game until you reach one of the successful endings (a "successful" ending has a cutscene before the score screen; in one of the successful endings everybody dies but it still counts).
Then, create an artifact that addresses the following points.
Artifact Assignment:
- What ending did you get? What events and choices did you make in the game to get to that ending?
- Discuss the seven main requirements of a game (Procedural Rules, Decision Making, Goals, Player Impact, Information, Opposition, and Resource Management). Does the game have all of them? Give examples and justify how each example fits into the category you claim it does.
- Give examples of how the game includes each of the eight categories that games feature (theme, diplomacy, narrative tension, role identification, simulation, socializing, roleplay, and variety). Describe how each makes the game better.
